Account Management

Runa Labs uses direct, encrypted API integration to route your trades with sub-second latency. Your keys are encrypted locally and stored in a secure vault.

Generating & Saving API Keys

1. Log into your exchange (e.g., Bybit) and navigate to the API Management section.
2. Select 'Create New Key' and choose 'System-generated API Keys'.
3. Permissions: You must select Read-Write and enable Orders / Positions / Trade permissions.
4. Copy the Public Key and Secret Key into the Connect New Account panel in the Accounts tab.
5. Give the account a recognizable name (e.g., 'Main Swing Algo').

Terminal Utilities & Management

Once connected, your accounts will appear in the Account Selector dropdown. From the main Accounts dashboard, you can perform several key utilities:

• Rename Accounts: Click the blue Edit button next to your balance to rename a connection. The system will automatically hunt down and update all of your active strategy subscriptions to use the new name.
• Purge Accounts: Click the red Purge button to completely wipe the API keys from our vault and severe the connection instantly.
• Demo Mode: When adding keys, checking the 'Demo Account' box flags the connection as a paper-trading environment, keeping your risk-free testing separated from live capital.
• Latency Testing: Use the 'Run Latency Test' button to ping the exchange servers directly from our backend bridge to ensure sub-millisecond execution speeds.

MAX EXPOSURE Guardrail

Each account has an independent MAX EXPOSURE guardrail that caps how much of your available balance any single order can consume. This protects you from outsized positions caused by misconfigured webhooks or runaway strategies.

• Default: 80% — a safe baseline that leaves margin headroom.
• Futures / Perps: Because notional on leveraged instruments often exceeds 100% of balance, values above 100% are valid and accepted. For example, setting 150% on a 10x-leveraged account means your position can be sized up to 1.5× your available margin balance.
• Per-Account: Each connected account has its own setting, saved independently. Switching accounts in the terminal automatically loads that account's guardrail value.
• Range: 1% – 2000%.
